Finally got to check this off the bucket list... camping on the Great Wall of China! We woke up early in the morning, drove a couple of hours from Beijing and started our climb. It was super steep and a very exhausting hike, but it was all worth it once we got to watch the sunset and one of the peaks. At night, after we watched the sun go down, we hiked back to our campsite and our leaders, Sam and Tim, brought out a massive birthday cake for Jack's 18th birthday! We all gathered around to sing happy birthday to him along with sharing our highlights of the day.
We woke up early that morning, some earlier than others, to watch the sunrise. The majority of the group woke up at 4:30 am and hiked back up to the peak to watch the sunrise, but Emily and I decided to sleep in a little longer and eat breakfast together at the campsite.
We then packed up camp, hiked down, and headed to the airport for another long travel day to Shangri-La.
